Tasting Casa Bianca Spumante Rosato

Name: Casa Bianca Spumante Rosato
Variety: Prosecco Spumante
Region: Italy
Country: Italy
Price: $11.95

Critic: Prosecco is very popular in Italy. The wine is often served as a festive aperitif but mild dry Prosecco Spumante is also very suitable as a companion of appetizers and entrees. Prosecco is a generic term and can be sold in many different qualities. The best have their own appellation, as Casca Bianca. The vineyards of Montello and the hills of Asoli located in northern Italy. This rosato spumante is made from white grape pinot nero prosecco and red. By fermenting them together creates the pale pink color and a spumante with a fine persistent mousse, juicy fresh red fruit in the aroma and a rich, smooth and lasting flavor.

What I taste: I love the sweet, sour, and sparkly taste. I also love the smell of rose with this wine. This is something I would try again.

Tasting Rheingold

Variety: Reserve Chardonnay French
Region: France
Country: France
Year: 2005
Price: $24.00

Winery Review: In the style of French White burgundy, full bodied with butteriness, flint and mineral in the mouth. Not made every year -- only in the best years.

What I taste: It was quite heavy, Warm and also small after burn.

Tasting Alicante Bouschet

Name: Alicante Bouschet
Variety:
Region: Roanoke, VA
Country: USA
Year: 2005
Price: $17.00

Winery Review: We are the only proud producer of this Italian varietal outside of California. Amazingly dark in color, with tons of dark black fruit aroma and taste. Great gift for that wine snob friend 'cause they will not have tried this one. Great with cigars or as an after dinner drink. Try with vension or lamb.

What I taste: One word smokyyy!!!. The taste of smoke turns me off and actually that is the only thing that I can remember about this wine. I do not like this personally.

Tasting Cabernet Sauvignon

Name: Cabernet Sauvignon
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Roanoke, VA
Country: USA
Price: $22.00

Winery Review: Our Cabs set new marks in Virginia for ripeness and tannin maturity. harvested in late October or early November, they spend 40 months in barrel before bottling. These dark iuscious wines show dark cherry fruit, cedar, spice in layers with a 60 finish. Really special Cabernets! Set these wines down for 10 years if you want to see how a great wine improves with age.

What I taste: It was dry, and a bit sour. I love the smell of cheery, and ceder but the spice was a bit rough to take in.

Tasting Viognier Valhalla Vineyard

Name: Viognier
Variety: Viognier
Region: Roanoke, VA
Country: USA
Price: $16.00
Year: 2008

Winery Review: A superior white wine with aromas of apricot and citrus. Stainless steel fermented since the 2004 vintage, Full Oak fermentation in 2002. Made in the French Style of unfiltered wines, try with chicken, veal or pork.

What I taste: I love the sparkly feeling with bit of citrus taste. It made me feel like drinking fruit sprite when I took the first sip but it changes into something clean. Smell of Oak and smooth finish made me think this is one of the wine that I would definitely drink again.

Tasting Row Ten Valhalla Vineyard

Name: Row Ten Valhalla Vineyard
Variety: Chard/ Viognier blend
Region: Roanoke, VA
Country: USA
Price $15.00
Year: 2008

Winery Review: Experimentation led us to blend. Called the "best of both worlds" our classic Chardonnay and Viognier grapes are fermented then blended to produce a wine exploding with floral aromatics, with a clean, crips finish.

What I taste: This is my very first wine ever!!!. A hint of Chardonnay but not in your face strong. Cool as it enters the mouth and left the slight warming feeling as I swallow.
